Beautiful, inspiring 78 card deck and matching 198 page
book independently published in New Zealand. I can't say enough about this
deck.....it is lovely, introspective and challenging. I have found this deck
to be a wonderful tool for self exploration. You may read an excellent review

From the book's Introduction:
"Songs for the Journey Home is a celebratory topographical mapping of
the peaks and valleys that make up the integral landscape of human experiences.
At times we are able to view the events of our lives from an elevated vantage
point, seeing the 'big picture' and identifying both the pathways that lead
us here and our future route. However, when we move down into the shady groves
it is very easy to lose that sense of perspective and direction and become
paralyzed through fear of taking a wrong turning. This fear diminishes our
instinctive knowing and rational decision-making processes.
The archetypal imagery of tarot shows us symbolically where we are. These
images also awaken our recognition of the pertinence of all our encounters,
so that we can move away from harshly judging our times in the valleys, through
longing to remain on the peaks. Tarot imagery also affirms the high points
of our meetings with our creativity, compassion and joy. These are some of
the moments through which we refine our understanding of life's mysteries;
of life, death, love and power. "
The book not only gives interpretations of the cards, but visualizion exercises,
mythic stories and original spreads. The spreads include "Shores and Bridges",
"Shells, Masks and Shields", and "Seasons and Cycles". The Celtic Cross is
also included, reinterpreted to match the inner journey focus of Songs for
the Journey Home.
The Court cards have been renamed to Innocence, Awakening, Creating and Resolving
(traditionally Pages, Knights, Queens and Kings) and comprise the Shell Songs.
The Minor arcana suits (Hearth Songs) have been renamed to Earth Songs
(Pentacles), Wind Songs (Swords), Flame Songs (Wands) and Wave Songs (Cups).
The Major Arcana (Life Songs) basically follows the traditional titling,
but the artwork is fresh and original as the interpretations. Cards are @
4" in diameter.
This is an independently produced set, self-published in New Zealand. The
paperback book is well bound, and features "bookmark flaps" on both front
and back covers, a really nice feature. The cover has an interesting, almost
silky texture, that I really like. The back cover does show a kind of scuff
mark, apparently from the binding process, which appears on every copy I
have. It does not show on the front cover. The cards come packaged in a nice
flip-top cardboard box.
